I tried many combinations before I got this game to work on LAN, im not sure if it works online. These are instructions:1. Install Steam OR get Steam archive January 2011 and copy to Program files.
Do not start Steam yet.
2. Download and install Magicka to C:\Program files\Steam\steamapps\common\magicka (Don't use crack!).
3. Download and install Update 14 to 15 (Don't use crack from update either!).
4. Download Smartsteam fix and copy content of .rar to Steam folder in Program files and overwrite all.
5. Download and install Tunngle . Restart PC.
6. Disable Firewall or allow all these programs trough. Disabling: Type " netsh firewall set opmode disable " (without quotes) in command prompt (Windows key + R and type '' cmd ''). To enable it back type enable instead of disable. This is link
7. Start Tunngle, create account and log in. In search type: Magicka and press enter. Double click on first one.
8. Start smartsteam.exe, create account (don't use account that already has some games, and don't use eMail that is already used for another account), log in and wait 30 s while steam loads games. Then start Magicka (it should be written in yellow letters and saying something like download paused). Press play and again play in key requesting box, wait for first start configuration and if there are any errors just press ok and wait a bit, it will start the game anyway.
9. Your friend should use your Tunngle Virtual IP if you are hosting. For joining look at Tunngle chat to find IP and see if anyone is creating a game. Your Tunngle IP is in bottom left corner of Tunngle window.
10. Finally PLAY!
Note that the who you are playing with must be using this same method.
If you can't get Magicka to work you are doing something wrong - read this blog carefully. If you still can't get it to work read this blog even more carefully! I tried this and it certainly works on LAN and singleplayer.
